Do not over think it. This is a mixed bag of things I find and like, and sometimes love. |
Amazing So Cal artist Brandi Milne on Sketch Theatre. Check out the video to watch her create a story in pencil. Brandi recently had a show at the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City. My favorite piece at the gallery was Shadow of Your Smile, which I believe is a very touching tribute to her mother.
If you want to check some of her work out in person, she’s part of a show called Art on the Edge, going on now through July 27th in East Hampton, NY at the Vered Gallery.
Went to Natalia Fabia’s opening for her new show last night at the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City, CA. “Fasionable Aftertaste Without End” is an amazing series inspired by Kawaii, blending Japanese pop culture with Fabia’s Western girls.
Fabia is part of LA’s “new progressive” movement, but none of that matters to me. What matters is that she was super sweet when we met and her brilliant paintings are seductively sugary with a hint of gritty rawness (the latter others might not agree with, but I always feel that as a back layer when I see her work).
If you are in the Los Angeles area, go see her work. The show runs from July 10th - August 11th, 2010.
