Because it's Cool

Really cool one time use tableware out of Japan! Not necessarily cheap, but not ridiculous if you are going to use them every so often, like on a picnic date in the park. They definitely beat plain round paper plates from a design perspective. This tableware is made from 100% tree-free renewable material: sugar cane fiber, bamboo and reed pulp.

This is the crappiest notebook I have … literally. When I was at the Good and Green conference in Chicago late last year I found out about Mr. Ellie Pooh. Sound strange? Well, it is. From journals to wedding invitations, they are making quality paper products out of a mixture of elephant dung and post consumer paper.

The brilliance of this operation out of Sri Lanka is how it has changed the attitudes of the people living in the community. Before, Asian elephants in Sri Lanka were being killed not because of their ivory or hides or meat, but because they would eat or crush farmland, a vital source of income. I love cacti and succulents! Partly because all the different variety, and unique shapes and great colors - greens bleeding into reds, pops of orange. But also because they are drought resistant, and here in California we should all be mindful of that.
