This is the crappiest notebook I have … literally. When I was at the Good and Green conference in Chicago late last year I found out about Mr. Ellie Pooh. Sound strange? Well, it is. From journals to wedding invitations, they are making quality paper products out of a mixture of elephant dung and post consumer paper.
The brilliance of this operation out of Sri Lanka is how it has changed the attitudes of the people living in the community. Before, Asian elephants in Sri Lanka were being killed not because of their ivory or hides or meat, but because they would eat or crush farmland, a vital source of income. They were a farmers worst enemy. So how did this paper operation overcome this big problem?
